A shared list isn't updating

The checklist that fixes almost every sync problem, in order.

Updated July 18, 2026

Sync problems are almost always one of a handful of causes. Work through this list in order — the first three fix most cases.

The quick checklist

  1. Check iCloud is signed in on both phones: iOS Settings → your name. If it says "Sign in to your iPhone," that's the problem.
  2. Check a connection exists. iCloud sync needs the internet; a phone deep in a concrete store can drop to nothing. Changes made offline sync as soon as coverage returns.
  3. Pull to refresh the list, or switch to another list and back.
  4. Check iCloud Drive is on: iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → make sure iCloud Drive is enabled.
  5. Low Power Mode delays background sync. Opening the app foreground-syncs immediately.
  6. Restart the app — swipe up and reopen. This clears most stuck states.
  7. Check Apple's system status at apple.com/support/systemstatus — rare, but iCloud does have bad days.

If one person specifically never gets updates

  • Have them confirm they're still on the list (Settings → Members). If they were removed, they'll need a new invite.
  • Have them check iOS Settings → Grocer and confirm nothing is restricted (e.g. cellular data off for the app).

Still stuck?

Send us a note from Settings → Send Feedback with which list and roughly when the miss happened — that's enough for us to trace it. Or email support@grocer.sh.
